STEVEN MOORE
Steven Moore is a retired Texas band director with a distinguished 34-year career in music education and currently serves as Executive Director of the National Association of Military Marching Bands (NAMMB), Contest Director for the UIL/NAMMB State Military Marching Band Championships, and a Student Travel Tour Consultant with Kaleidoscope Adventures.
Mr. Moore served in Lindale Independent School District from 1990 until his retirement in 2024, including 28 years as Director of Bands. Under his leadership, the Lindale band program consistently earned UIL Sweepstakes Award and achieved significant state recognition. These honors include multiple UIL State Military Marching Band Class 4A Championships (2020–2023), designation as a TMEA Honor Band finalist, performance as the 2007 3A State Honor Band at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention, and recognition as the Texas Bandmasters Association Exemplary High School Band (2008). In 2024, Mr. Moore received the TBA Meritorious Achievement Award for significant contributions to music education and a life-long commitment and outstanding service to the profession of band directing and music education in Texas.
Mr. Moore has held numerous leadership roles in Texas and national music education organizations, including President of the Texas Bandmasters Association (2016), President of the National Association of Military Marching Bands (2003), President of the Association of Texas Small School Bands (2006), President of Phi Beta Mu – Alpha Chapter (2018–2020), and Region 21 TMEA Band Division Chairman (2016–2022). He served on the TBA Board of Directors from 2010–2017.
A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, Mr. Moore earned a Bachelor of Music Education and later completed a Master of Education degree at The University of Texas at Tyler. He is an active clinician, adjudicator, and presenter, and remains deeply engaged in supporting music educators, students, and programs across Texas and beyond. He maintains professional affiliations with TBA, TMEA, ATSSB, NAMMB, TMAA, and Phi Beta Mu.
